The governorship election
tribunal in Gombe State has
upheld the election of Governor
Ibrahim Dankwambo of the
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The tribunal on Wednesday
dismissed a petition filed by the
candidate of the All Progressives
Congress, APC, in the April 11
election, Inuwa Yahya.
The tribunal said the petitioner simply “wasted the time of the tribunal”. It also accused the petitioner of deliberately attempting to defame the tribunal while the case lasted. While rejecting the case, the tribunal fined the petitioner N3, 500. Meanwhile, the Akwa Ibom Legislative Elections Tribunal sitting in Dutsen Alhaji district of Abuja, has upheld the victory of former governor of the state, Goodswill Akpabio as a Senator in the March 28 election.
