Drama As Kidnappers Had Accidents Twice Abducting Ex-commissioner In Delta

Drama as kidnappers had accidents twice abducting ex- commissioner in Delta Ebenezer Adurokiya, Warri Four suspected kidnappers had accidents twice while trying to whisk away an octogenarian, Dr Idodo Umeh, in Delta State. The incident happened last Sunday morning at Olomoro Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that after abducting Dr Umeh, an educationist and former commissioner in defunct Bendel State, the suspects sped off, but suddenly had an accident. The suspects then abandoned the victim in the vehicle, snatched another Kia jeep with registration number LEH 339 SL in order to escape. But while trying to escape with the Kia jeep, the suspects had another accident and eventually abandoned the vehicle and fled into the bush. Acting on a tip-off, a combined team of police on patrol and local vigilance group went after the hoodlums and rescued the kidnapped victim abandoned in the first vehicle. Items recovered from the scene were a locally-made single barrel gun and the two vehicles used by the hoodlums. Meanwhile, the police in Delta have arrested one of the suspected kidnappers of one Macquain Obi who was abducted October 14 and released three days later after his family reportedly paid a ransom of N2 million. The suspect, Chuks Nwaikwu, was trailed and nabbed in Benin, Edo State, last Sunday by detectives attached to Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad (SAKS), Asaba after a painstaking investigation. Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State Command, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed both incidents, said kidnap suspect had confessed to the crime while further investigations were ongoing to track down other fleeing members.
