Umtiti To Join Barcelona From Lyon

Barcelona have announced the signing of France defender

Samuel Umtiti from Lyon for €25 million.

Umtiti, 22, has agreed a five-year contract at the Camp Nou

and his buyout clause stands at €60m.

A statement on the club's official website said he would arrive

in Barcelona for a photo session on Thursday and undergo his

medical on Friday morning before putting pen to paper on the

contract.

Umtiti, who made 170 appearances for Lyon after making his

debut for the club in the 2011-12 season, can play at centre-

back or left-back.

Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu had confirmed last

month that an agreement had been reached with Lyon for the

player to join after Euro 2016.

Umtiti made his international debut in France's 5-2

quarterfinal win over Iceland before featuring in the 2-0

semifinal victory over Germany as well as the 1-0 defeat to

Portugal in the final.
