Jamie Vardy and Arsene Wenger have been rewarded for
their performances last month by winning the Barclays
awards for October.
Winning the player award for the first time, Vardy received it
for scoring five times in four Barclays Premier League
matches last month, part of a nine-match scoring streak he
is currently enjoying, the second-highest run in Barclays
Premier League history.
Wenger receives the managerial award for the 15th time, the second most behind Sir Alex Ferguson's 27 awards, and cited the 3-0 victory over Manchester United as the highlight. "It was the highlight because there are very few matches in your life where it all clicks perfectly in the first 20 minutes and that was one of those games," he said. "[Receiving the award] is always good because it reminds you that we have not done too badly in the last month and you worry as well to maintain the run for the coming month and that’s what we want to do always The Frenchman's side won all four of their Barclays Premier League matches in October.
