The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Kaduna
has upheld the election of the state Governor,
Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai.
The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA,
governorship candidate in the last election, Mr
Polycarp Danladi, had petitioned the tribunal
challenging the election that brought in El-Rufai
as governor of the state.
Danladi sought the tribunal to nullify the election and order a fresh one, arguing that the election was characterized by over voting and not conducted in compliance with the electoral act. The tribunal, under the chairmanship of Justice A. A. Adebara in its verdict on Thursday threw out Danladi’s petition. It affirmed El Rufai as the winner of the election.
