The Ministry of Health has discredited reports of
another case of Ebola in Calabar Cross Rivers,
affirming that Nigeria is Ebola free. There was
an Ebola scare in Nigeria yesterday October 8th
after a man died of hemorrhagic fever seven
hours after he was admitted on Wednesday
October 7th, making the doctors suspect it could
be a new case of Ebola and immediately
quarantined 10 people including nurses who
treated the dead patient and every other person
who had contact with him.
At a press conference in Calabar this afternoon, the permanent secretary of the ministry of Health, Linus Awute said test carried out on the dead patient's specimen, tested negative to Ebola and Lassa fever. “After the tests, it is very clear it has nothing to do with Ebola or Lassa fever. Results confirmed that the deceased was negative of Ebola virus and Lassa fever. The ministry of health states that Nigeria remains Ebola free.” he said.
