South African President, Jacob Zuma has
criticised the mindless killing of police
officers in the country.
Speaking at a ceremony at the Union
Buildings organised to remember the
officers killed since April last year, he said
an attack on the police is an attack on the
state.
Zuma called for stringent measures to ensure the safety of officers and the public. He assured that a national tactical response plan had been developed to respond effectively to the murders of police officers, and called on South Africans to work with the police to create safer communities. 58 officers have been killed in S.Africa between January 1 and August 24 this year according to police statistics.
