ECOWAS, African Union and United Nations have
rejected the coup in Burkina Faso. They also
condemned the abduction of President Michel
Kafando, the Prime Minister, Yacouba Zida, and
transitional Ministers by Presidential guards.
The three organisations made their position known in a joint statement with which they described the act as violation of the Constitution and the Charter of the Transition. They also demanded that the security forces submit to the transition government which they say is the legitimate political authority in the country.
