LG Dissolution: Chairmen Blame Police For Impunity

The Association of Local Government of Nigeria ALGON, a body that comprises the Elected Chairmen and other elected members of the Local Councils across the Country, have accused the Nigeria Police Force of bias in the handling of the dissolution of elected Local Government Council Executives in Plateau state.
The 5th of July announcement of the dissolution of Local Government Executive and Legislative Arms by the Plateau Governor, Simon Lalong, is still generating reactions as the Association of Local Government of Nigeria in the state says the Police have shown bias in handling issues surrounding the dissolution. While the governor says he acted within the arm-bits of the Law and his powers as Governor, ALGON in the state says it was an act done in total disregard of a subsisting court order with the alleged connivance of the Police. The ALGON added that the Police is always doing the opposite of what it preaches especially on obedience and adherence to the rule of Law.
