Nasarawa First Lady Donates Baby Kits To Nursing Mothers Monthly

Nasarawa State first lady, Hajiya Salamatu Al-makura, said that her pet project, Mother and Child Care Enhancement Foundation (McCEF) has been donating baby kits to nursing mothers in the state.
Hajiya Salamatu who disclosed this on Monday in an interview with journalists in Lafia said the gesture is to assist less privileged mothers during delivery and after. She said she has been donating the kids on monthly basis since the beginning of Gov Al-makura’s first tenure in office in 2011, through Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH) in Lafia, the state capital. According to her, “the gesture is to assist pregnant women who might come from rural areas and the less privileged to get there baby needs after successful delivery.” “I communicated with the management tof DASH to always provide any pregnant woman who cannot afford the baby kits after their successful delivery, in order to improve on their standard of living and to make them happy”, she said. “The essence of the donation is also to show love to the pregnant mothers and their new born babies and to let them know that they are very relevant to the society”. “I urge them not to relent in their efforts in ensuring the upbringing of their children for the benefit of all”, she added. Hajiya Salamatu Almakura urged parents to always endeavour to enroll their children and wards in schools so as to acquire both western and religious education. “This is the only way that children can be empowered to take up their future leadership roles in the country as well as become self-reliant,” “Without this, the future of Nigeria which is in the hands of the youth is in jeopardy and the nation cannot afford this” , She averred.
