Nigerian league on break

The League Management Company on Wednesday said that the 2014/15 Glo Premier League would observe a three-week break after its match-day-11 encounters scheduled for May 24.
A press statement signed by LMC said that it would, during the break; check on various clubs’ compliance with the Nigeria Football Federation clubs certification regulations. “You may wish to recall that we started the league with blanket provisional waiver to the clubs. This will allow them to comply with all registration requirements before Match Day 9 when a review will be conducted by the LMC. “The break period is also a time to revisit club stadium facilities to remedy observed defects as the clubs have so far operated with provisional certificates,” it said. The statement also said that the break would be used by the clubs’ managements to acquaint themselves with their respective newly elected governors, who are owners of the state-run clubs. According to the statement, the 2014/15 league season will now resume on June 14 with match day 11 fixtures originally scheduled for May 24. It assured the clubs, fans and sponsors that the break would not affect November 15 date when the final games of the season would be played. It, however, said that the mid-season break for the second transfer window would now start on July 19 as against the initial July 10 date. It added that the second round games would commence on Aug. 2 with Match Day 20.
