Ayo Fayose, the Ekiti state governor and main opponent of the leadership of Adamu Mu’azu as the Peoples Democratic Party national chairman, has reacted to Mu’azu’s resignation.
In a statement released by his chief press secretary, Idowu Adelusi, on Wednesday in Ado Ekiti, Fayose described the end of Muazu’s term as a good thing for the party.
He said: “We see it as a welcome development. When a political party loses an election, the moral thing for the leadership of that party is to quit office. “Muazu and others ought not to have waited for the call for their resignation before doing the right thing. We hope others would follow his step. This will allow re-engineering of the party to make it a virile opposition party.” “Fayose supported the call for his resignation in the interest of the party, Alh. Mu’azu also resigned in the interest of the party, so both of them are fighting for the interest of the party. “We must all join hands to make PDP stronger because as May 29 approaches, the party would assume a new role as opposition party.” Yesterday, Adamu Mu’azu tendered his resignation letterafter weeks of being pressured to resign due to the party’s failure at the recently held elections.
