Kogi State chapter of Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, has endorsed the
incumbent governor, Capt Idris Wada, for a
second term.
PDP Elders Advisory Council, which disclosed this
to newsmen after a closed-door meeting with
party stakeholders across the state, also said the
issue of power shift, which had become a
recurring decimal in the state, would only occur
in 2019.
Chairman of the Advisory Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, who read the communique of the meeting which was held at Government House, Lokoja, said Governor Wada had done well in his first term as the governor of the state, adding that the party had resolved to give him the ticket for a second term. He said: “Captain Idris Wada will be given total support to win November 21, 2015 governorship election which is around the corner. Kogi state is PDP state. “However, machinery will be but in place for power shift toward 2019 governorship election. Part of the machinery that will be put in place is the setting up of a committee to look into the issue of power shift immediately after the election.” The former governor commended his successor’s developmental strides, saying if Wada was re- elected, he would do better.
